Evening View 04:17
This night, the children of comfortable ignorance Sleep softly in beds of the silently slain The lapping of those ancient tongues Upon ankles of the younger ones Reaching up like the fires in the skies The weight of the world is too much for even itself What might rise from the ashes of a cave-in? Great mass form like that on a holy day Great mass more like that of a cancer in the land

Wake my precious child, wake up Your eyes move not to the rising light of the gods Nor to the sound of the quiet morn Nor to the sting of desperate hand Nor to the cries of those you've loved Perhaps my figure haunts your sleep A voice in the threshold of a dream City bound in the early rays I'd carry you to the end of days When will help seek as it is sought Love so easy must be similarly lost Screeching halt across burning earth Where a wall of bodies stands before The visage of those beloved ones An expressionless march towards the son City bound in the early rays I'd carry you to the end of days The silent sounds of Summer Dance across canals The silent songs of Summer Call you back sleep The silent sounds of Summer Sit still no longer When I reach the fading city lights Child, your breath is slowing... Cresting the final peak The cities once stood are naught An open pit of darkness A piercing halt does not stop And we're falling forward And the pulse of another received And this pulse of energy surrounds What awaits after the fall? Drowning in the darkness with you Like hands clenching on the throat Of my personal divinity How do you feel, my child, if at all? Inward bound in the fading rays I'd carry you to the end of days When will help seek as it is sought Love so easy must be similarly lost Child, your breath is slowing... All the while my fear is growing

Immanence 07:21
Your mind dropping faster than body The fallen leaf splits And strews its lifesblood across Some part of the endless fields Of an early dew As its corpse rots away In the blistering sun And the barren wind discards you As the ashes beneath the fire I am a god before the life that you belittle In prisons you've formed of body and blood With the seasons, and the wild, rend your flesh before you Mind is free to wonder in solitude The material shall be desecrated no longer Mighty is the current of darkness Silently an eternity goes by Of utter madness Falling faster, was that a year or a second? Testimony of the energy in your ghastly eyes Soulless journey this should be called Death has robbed a conscious voltage Life as known cannot function (We will know) Death of soul (Disappear) Like the sensation of physical (We will know) Death of soul (We will know) Humanity slipping further away Perspective expand and new freedom will come To the senses of this wandering core Of post-human intellect journeying With no predecided purpose Free to decide What rights are wrong Feel one, feel endless You'll traverse Float through a neon Colored world Cross beyond matter Drawn to form Inside Inside me

Eigengrau 05:27
Free to decide What rights are wrong Feel one, feel endless You'll traverse A chill that shelters my mind A sudden rush None left to doubt again I don't feel that love anymore While floating through A neon colored world Free to decide What rights are wrong Feel one, feel endless You'll traverse Inside All walls climb towards the center Voice, calling on the name It's just a cold grave All along it seems that we were astral Walls climbing in the east The womb that shapes us here The design is only natural And this time I see You were all so mundane We'll match the colors Of its dull and broken wings
5.
No, this is not the end There was love And passion And fire Purged in the void of summer Yet remembrance comes... It wasn't just the sensation of knowing But the very essence of you The continuance of my blood As breathing proof that we're never dying Just moving through the cycle Called through the dark Falling into remembrance Familiar smile See, it's been far, far too long
6.
Sentience 08:35
Now it seems that I can shape my own world Sprawling dust gathers meaning from the sentient one So slide back Your privilege is nothing Yet everything in the wake Of those glistening eyes Look at yourselves All that you can be is before your eyes Look in yourselves All that you can be is within the mind Now it seems that I can shape my own world Sprawling dust gathers meaning from the sentient one And we'll re-unite in the dark For my time here is done Sentience Control

about

"Afterglow" is considered a conceptual, linearly flowing album exploring unique and intricate atmospheres. It is suggested to listen to this piece without interruption from start to finish (preferably not streamed as this truncates the flowing organic music). Afterglow was conceptualised in May 2012, subsequently recorded with James Parsons in 2013 and then mixed and mastered in April 2014.

Michael Rumple's contributions to the creation of this album was through conceptual ideas, lyrics, vocals, programming and mixing. Stephen Fortune contributed the initial concept and ideas, guitars, bass, drum programming, mixing and mastering.

Gene Haggie provided the bass guitar used in this recording. James Parsons allowed Stephen the use of his gear for the recording of the instruments on this album.

I'd like to thank, firstly, the Universe for providing the opportunity to exist and make music with such amazing and talented people that I have met thus far in my life. I'd like to deeply thank Michael Rumple for being my equal in this project and look forward to working on more material with him in time. Another specific thanks to James Parsons for being a legitimate human being (not enough words to express my gratitude in our friendship). I'd like to thank Andrew Collett for his continued support and his close friendship. I love all my friends and family -- thank you for all the shared experiences we've had and will continue to proliferate.

Michael
I would like to thank my friends for constantly listening to my different ideas and vocal tests, and giving me the feedback I needed to help push myself further. Major thanks to everyone in the UNC Wilmington music building staff for tolerating me yelling and shouting and causing a general ruckus in one of their practice rooms so that I could get this recording done. The biggest thanks, though, goes to Stephen Fortune, who put forth the talent and effort to write and record this monster of an album. I'm proud and honored to be a part of the music he has crafted.
